Stages of Normal Delivery:

First Stage

When the cervix begins to soften and stretch, the baby is ready to come out of its mother. A woman’s first childbirth can last as long as 12/13 hours, whereas subsequent births typically last around 6/7 hours. The contractions grow more intense and frequent as this stage develops. Contractions are intense, painful, and last 60-90 minutes, happening every 2-3 minutes, by the time the cervix is about 10 cm dilated

Second Stage

After the cervix has fully dilated, this stage begins. The infant is being pushed head first into the delivery canal by intense contractions. Every contraction requires the mother to exert herself, which might lead to exhaustion. Also, she may feel a lot of discomfort at the vaginal entrance while the baby is coming out. An incision (episiotomy) may be made at this point if the doctor believes it will be more convenient for the baby’s emergence. Until the baby eventually emerges, the mother must continue to labour.

Third Stage

Placenta Is Pushed Out
The whole placenta is expelled via the vaginal canal at this point. After the baby is born, the placenta might be delivered anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour later. Massage of the lower abdomen can help the process forward.
